The Best Time of Year to do Pre-Wedding Photos

“When is the best time of the year is to take wedding photos?” That’s a question we get asked all the time, so I thought today I might take my time to write an answer for it.

SPRING or SUMMER?

Traditionally we associate Spring and Summer with the time to take wedding photos. A time of birth and renewal, where the flowers bloom and the sun shines. But I’m going to let you in on a little secret.

AUTUMN and WINTER?

Photo taken on May 2018 at Breenhold Garden, Mount Wilson NSW

The secret is, anytime of year is the best time to do your wedding photos. There is always a great location to do your wedding photos. For autumn, one amazing place to do you wedding photos is at Breenhold Gardens on Mt Wilson, about 3 hours from Sydney.  The red maple leaves really add to the romantic elements of the photos, and the contrast between the colder surroundings and the love between the two people shown in the photos really enhances the romance of the photos.

At the end of the day you don’t need the classic clichés to make your wedding photos stand out. The best Wedding Photos can be found at any time of year, in any place. Because at the end of the day, what makes the Wedding Photos amazing is the couple in it, the joy they share and the unique love story that they bring to the photo.

What Are Cinematic Wedding Videos?

At Thez Weddings our speciality is Cinematic Wedding Videos. But what do we mean by cinematic wedding videos? What makes our cinematic wedding videos so cinematic and different to any other ordinary wedding video?

When we talk about cinematic, we’re talking about the visual. Cinematic is what captures your eyes in the moment. It’s stunning. It’s beautiful. It wows you. Just like a wedding. Just like love. It’s something that will take your breath away. Because to us, cinematic is the same as true love.

But cinematic wedding video is not just about how it looks. When we say something is cinematic, we’re talking about the story. The story is larger than life. It’s epic. It’s means everything, and it’s the journey you’ve been on your whole life. Those are the stories that we see in the cinema, and isn’t that the same for true love too?

When we’re talking about cinematic, we mean that your love belongs on a movie screen.

5 Reasons to Have a Pre-Wedding Shoot

Throughout my career, countless clients have consistently asked me, “Should I have a pre-wedding shoot?” While everybody’s needs are different, I will almost always recommend a pre-wedding shoot, for these 5 reasons listed below.

Extra Time

Your wedding day maybe one of the busiest days of your life. You’ll have so many things happening, that you’ll barely have any time leftover to do your photo and video shoots. You won’t have any time to get those shots that you’ve dreamed of. And since you really want to use this day to celebrate your marriage with your friends and family, it really makes sense to spend an extra day to capture all those amazing wedding photos and videos. If you want amazing phots and videos, then you really need to spend extra time getting them.

Get to Know Your Photographer/Videographer Better.

One of the biggest reasons I recommend having a Pre-Wedding shoot is that it give you an opportunity to really get to know your photographer/videographer better. Meetings are important, but you don’t really know them until you work with them. You get to be more comfortable being directed by them and seeing that they know what they’re doing will put your mind at ease on the big day. It also allows your photographer and videographer to become more comfortable working with you. Alex from Bridalstory suggested that you should spend at least an hour to talk to your photographer to get on a same page. Tell them what’s your concern e.g. your double chin or you not confident being taken photo from lower angle.

More Amazing Locations

Your wedding will usually encompass one or two locations, but we all have so many locations that we wish we could be at for our wedding day. Well a pre-wedding shoot is just the opportunity to express the love that you two share, at your favourite and most memorable locations.  This is a once in a lifetime experience, why limit it to one or two places?

Something to Show on Your Reception

The pre-wedding photos and videos are something you can show on your wedding day, as part of your reception. While you’ll always have many personal photos to show, none of them will be anything like the amazing professional photos and videos you’ll get from a wedding photographer and videographer. The video can be used as a presentation at your reception. As a way of telling your love story to all the guests at your wedding.

Once in A Lifetime Experience

At the end of the day this is a moment in your life that you will not repeat. This will be a once in a lifetime experience. And with a pre-wedding shoot, you can capture all those special moments from the start of your marriage so that you can relive them with your loved one for the rest of your life.
